Wow! What a rough week it’s been! We went for our usual appointment on Friday, February 12th and it turned into a 3-day hospital stay. Seems I have developed high blood pressure (BP) and they found some protein in my urine; quite the turn of events. I was immediately admitted for some monitoring, they monitored my BP over the three days and did several sets of blood tests…all to turn up with no answers. They were leaning towards pre-eclampsia but grateful to God that I’m not showing any other symptoms of that other than the protein and high BP. My blood tests were all inconclusive because one round would show…
Another week has passed and so many developments. Let’s start with the fact that I’m swelling everywhere and it’s constant, my feet are swollen all day except for the few hours when I have them elevated at night. My lower back is swollen 24/7, I don’t even know how to relieve that, so I haven’t tried. On Monday, I also discovered that I had what is called hamburger/cheeseburger crotch. This is when the area swells due to the pressure and retention around the pelvis. (Thankfully, this usually goes away within 30 minutes of standing). On another TMI note, I have developed the famous pregnancy bladder where you tinkle just a…
Here we are! Another week done. Unfortunately, this past week wasn’t a walk in the park as I had a sickle cell crisis. I’m usually able to handle these at home through medication but this time around my body wasn’t having that. After an hour of excruciating pain, I finally heeded my husband’s advice and agreed to go to the hospital (good thing I listened). We ended up being admitted to the hospital overnight and kept on heavy meds. Baby was monitored the entire time and he did quite well, so proud of him. We were told that there is a large volume of amniotic fluid around him, so they…

Happy birthday @davefound! We celebrate your life today because you are a gift! The one who knows my emotions in and out, knows when my eyebrows are at rest or about to start something 😂 the one who knows my different “I’m fine” levels, the one who Fiara calls for stinky diaper changes (she has decided this is Dad’s duties) and the one Alayo looks up to everyday, the hardest working person I know and the most milk consumer to ever exist (I think he single-handedly keeps the dairy industry alive), I love you and I love you more as you age. We are all so blessed to have you! May God’s blessings, grace and mercy continue to be with you. ...

It’s my momma’s birthday!!! The jollof Queen @yemi1954, I dare you to find jollof rice better than my mom’s and that’s not just a biased comment. Wishing this amazing woman, mom and stand up grandma a very happy and blessed year ahead. She deserves it all! When I’m faced with a conflict, I often ask myself WWJD or as my girlfriend and I say “what would grandma do?” and that’s because she’s such a great example of love and genuine care. I love you mom!!! ...
