It’s time for a moment of beauty! Influenster Canada and Rimmel sent me an amazing makeup box! Who doesn’t love makeup, especially FREE makeup?!
In this beautiful box, I received two makeup goodies: the Rimmel London Clump-Free Volume “Shake It Fresh” Mascara and the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Factor Lipstick in “High Flyer” 610.
Rimmel London Clump-Free Volume “Shake It Fresh” Mascara
I have owned a lot of mascaras in my makeup journey, however this is my first Rimmel brand mascara.
First Impressions
Packaging: The mascara container is a grey tube with details in beautiful gold-foil. The tube itself is a bit on the thick side with a slight taper on the wand applicator top. This tube feels a bit dated and reminds me of the cheaper drugstore brands I purchased as a young teenager. In my honest opinion, this packaging could use a facelift to adhere to the sleek and classy feel of the Rimmel London brand and create a modern elegant mascara that I would be proud to carry in my clutch on a romantic date night.
Wand: The first time I removed the wand from the mascara tube, I was quite impressed. The wand comes out clean without resistance or clumps on the stem.
Brush: The Rimmel mascara brush is very soft with medium length stacked bristles. The abundance of bristles seems to create a smooth glide without clumped lashes.
Mascara Formula: The mascara liquid is very light and has a seemingly creamy texture that applies easily to the lashes.
Longwear: I haven’t been able to wear this mascara for more than a few hours at a time, so I am unable to truly assess the full day wear.
Final Opinion
The Rimmel mascara seems to be a great formula with a lovely clump-free brush and applicator. I’m not a huge fan of the packaging and tube. Overall, I can say this is a good product by Rimmel.
Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Factor Lipstick in “High Flyer” 610
First Impression
Packaging: The Rimmel Matte lipstick is encased in a gorgeous red rube with a silver applicator. This packaging is very sleek, modern and speaks the language of sexy.
Applicator: The silver applicator for this lipstick used the common twist-and-turn motion. Although this applicator is sleek, it does produce a little resistance when turning, which may or may not be intentional by design.
Lipstick: The lipstick is very smooth and glides on the lips evenly. Since it is a matte formula, there is no shine and there can be a little resistance in gliding if your lips are not pre-moisturized. I must say that this lipstick smells divine! Hands down, the best smelling lipstick I have ever used.
Colour: This line does have a number of colours and shades, I received “High Flyer – 610”, I did find this colour was not a great match for my skin. In order to truly get the best of this shade on my darker complexion, I used a lip liner, specifically MAC’s nightmoth and I was able to get the perfect match.
Final Opinion
I’m not a big fan of matte lipstick because of the drying effect on the lips but I always make exceptions for fantastic lipsticks. This is one matte that I am willing to make an exception for, if I find a shade that works perfectly for me without the need for lip liner manipulation.
Big thanks to Influenster and Rimmel for sending me this complimentary product to try.
